Abstract

The current measurement errors in current vector-controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives degrade torque control performance. Particularly, when multiple current sensors are used for phase current measurement and each sensor has a different scale, torque ripple occurs at frequencies twice the electrical frequency of the motor. This paper analyzes the effect of scale errors in measured currents during the process of aligning the rotor in a specific direction to set the initial rotor position in current vector-controlled PMSM drives on the output voltage of the inverter. Based on this analysis, this paper proposes a method to correct the scale errors between current sensors. Additionally, this paper validates the effectiveness of the proposed approach through experiments and discusses potential challenges during its practical implementation.
