Analyzing the Correlation between Human Error and Communication during Information Processing of Construction Workers

건설근로자 정보처리 과정 휴먼에러와 커뮤니케이션 상관관계 분석

Abstract

Human error in the construction sector is influenced not only by individual factors and cognitive processes but also by the physical environment. In construction sites, communication plays a critical role in the occurrence of human errors among workers. This relationship hinges significantly on the dynamics of human information processing, particularly in how information is conveyed and received. The primary aim of this study was to explore the correlation between human errors and the communication patterns among construction workers, focusing on their information processing activities. The findings reveal that the majority of human errors occurred during the cognitive processes of thinking and memory. Errors were notably prevalent in stages where information was communicated, suggesting a strong link between communication received and subsequent errors. Furthermore, the emotional and psychological states of workers during these exchanges were found to influence errors specifically in the thinking and memory phases. The implications of this research are significant, indicating that tailoring communication strategies to specific types of work could effectively reduce human errors at construction sites, enhancing overall safety and efficiency.

휴먼에러는 물리적 환경과 인지뿐만 아니라 개인에게 영향을 미치는 다른 배후 요인이 작용해서 일어난다. 건설 현장에서 이루어지는 커뮤니케이션은 건설근로자 휴먼에러의 배후 요인으로 작용할 수 있다. 또한, 커뮤니케이션은 정보의 전달이라는 측면에서 인간의 정보처리 과정과 관련이 크다. 따라서, 본 연구는 건설근로자의 정보처리 과정에서 생기는 휴먼에러와 커뮤니케이션의 상관관계를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석 결과 건설근로자는 정보처리 과정 중 판단/기억 과정에서 휴먼에러가 가장 많이 발생하며, 건설근로자가 커뮤니케이션을 통해 얻은 정보는 정보처리 과정 전 단계의 휴먼에러와 상관관계가 있으며 커뮤니케이션 과정에서 인지한 감정과 느낌은 판단/기억 단계 휴먼에러와 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 현장에서 휴먼에러를 줄이기 위해 업무 형태에 따라 커뮤니케이션 방법을 달리해야 한다는 것을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
