Abstract

Anti-stab pads were prepared by laminating LDPE/TPEE blend films on aramid fabrics to improve the stab resistance. Poly(ethylene-co-glycidyl methacrylate) (EGMA) was used as a compatibilizer to improve the compatibility of LDPE and TPEE. The properties of the LDPE/TPEE blends and anti-stab pads were analyzed according to the blend composition and compatibilizer content. The surface and cross-section of the LDPE/TPEE blends and anti-stab pads were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermal properties were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The rheological properties of the blends were analyzed by the rheometer, and the anti-stab properties were analyzed through the quasi-static test using a universal testing machine (UTM). The anti-stab pads showed best performance when EGMA content was 3 wt%, which was thought to be due to the compromise between the melt viscosity increasing effect and the mechanical property enhancement effect of the LDPE/TPEE blends.
