초록

Lyocell fibers are converted into carbon fibers by a heat treatment processes of pyrolysis, carbonization, and graphitization. Particularly, rapid weight loss and shrinkage occur through physical and chemical reactions in the pyrolysis process performed at a temperature below 400 ℃. The yield and physical properties of carbon fibers during the pyrolysis process change with the pre-treatment process, atmospheric gas, and temperature conditions. In this study, lyocell-based carbon fibers were developed using DAP(Diammonium Hydrogen phosphate) as a phosphorus flame retardant, which was also used to increase the thermal stability of the lyocell and carry out a continuous pyrolysis process in an atmosphere of air. The pyrolysis process was investigated through the analysis of thermal, structural, and physical properties based on the pyrolysis temperature conditions. When the pyrolysis was performed in the air atmosphere, the favorable and preferable temperature conditions were considered to be below 250 ℃.
