초록

A method to detect location and size of a pipe crack in elastically restrained cantilever-type beam using changes in natural frequencies is presented. Modal properties of elastically restrained cantilever-type beam are identified by applying the boundary conditions to a general solution. An equivalent bending stiffness for cracked beam based on an energy method is used to identify natural frequencies of elastically restrained cantilever-type thin-walled pipe, which has a through-the-thickness crack, subjected to bending. Then, numerical simulations are carried out to construct a set of training patterns of a neural network, and committee of neural networks is employed to identify the crack. Crack identifications are carried out for the 4 damage cases experimentally, and the identified crack locations and sizes agree reasonably well with the exact values.
