Abstract

본 원고는 한국통신학회 부호 및 정보이론 연구회 창립 20주년을 맞이하여 개최된 기념 워크숍에서 발표한 내용을 중심으로, 초창기 설립과 관련된 이야기와 지난 20년의 다양한 학술활동 통계를 간략히 정리한 결과이다. 올해의 기념 워크숍은 IEEE Information Theory Society에서 주관하여 전 세계적으로 다양하게 개최되는 Shannon의 100주년 생일을 기념하여 벌어지는 Shannon Centennial을 겸하여 개최되었다. 본 연구회와 IEEE Information Theory Society와의 관계도 간략히 요약한다.
