Kim youngrang's prosody pattern and its function in his early poems

김영랑의 초기시에서 율격양상이 지닌 특성을 도출하여 그의 시가 지닌 운율의식을 확인하고 도출된 운율의식을 근거로 영랑의 초기시에 대해 새로운 해석 가능성을 탐색해 보자는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 시 연구에 있어서 율격론이란, 시에서 음악성의 대상이란 무엇이며 그 대상은 과연 실체를 지니고 있는지, 만일 그 대상의 존재는 인정할 수 있으나 형태를 가지고 있지 못한 무형적 존재라면 그 대상은 어찌 확인할 수 있는지, 또한 그 대상은 과연 가치를 지녔는지, 그리고 가치를 지녔다면 그것은 어떻게 객관적 인정을 받을 수 있는지 등의 문제의식에서 비롯한다. 김영랑의 초기시를 대상으로 하는 율격론에서도 이는 마찬가지의 입장이다. 그 결과 김영랑 초기시의 율격양상은 첫째 4행연의 채택과 이형태의 허용, 둘째 음운에 따른 계열체들의 형성과 의미맥락 조성, 셋째 동어나 유사어 병치를 통한 단위의 조성 등이 두드러진 것으로 확인되었다. 이들 율격양상은 시인의 운율의식을 가늠하는 척도로 작용한다. 김영랑의 경우 초기시에서 보여 준 운율의식은 각각의 독립성을 지닌 계열체들과 이들이 공유하는 질서의식을 현양하는 데 기울어져 있다. 대립항의 하나는 질서의 완성으로 상징되는 자연이며 다른 하나는 결여를 안고 있는 개인적 주체이다. 자연은 신뢰할만한 질서의 상징임을 거듭 확인하고 있고 개인적 주체는 현실적 한계인 결여에 대해 회복의 가능성을 염원하고 기대한다는 두 가지 맥락을 지닌다. 이를 위해 시인은 자연이 지닌 질서를 드러내기 위해 유려한 선율을 조형하고 있으며 단절되지 않는 흐름을 운율의식으로 제공한다. 순조로운 순환에 대한 질서를 지향점으로 삼고 있는 개인적 주체는 현실적 한계가 마침내 자연의 질서에 따를 것임을 신념화하게 된다. 선율과 화성을 통해 자연이라는 거대담론의 질서를 미화하고 있으며, 계열체의 대립과 조화를 통해 결여된 현실이 종내 회복될 것임을 신념으로 삼을 수 있다는 맥락을 채택하고 있는 셈이다. 이러한 지점이 김영랑 초기시의 율격론에서 확인할 수 있는 전언이며 심미성이 된다.

The present study examines the characteristics of Youngrang'sprosody pattern in his early poems and explores the possibility of anovel interpretation of his early poems on the basis of his perception ofprosody.The theory of prosody in the study of poems stems from thequestions about what is the object of prosody in poems, whether theobject of prosody has its substance, how its substance can bemanifested if it does not have substance, whether its substance hasvalue, and how the value acquires an objective recognition if it does.The same position holds for Youngrang's poems. The results of thepresent study show that the prosody pattern in his early poems isrepresented by the versification of 4 lines and its isomorphs, theformation of phoneme series and their contexts, and the creation ofprosodic units through the juxtaposition of identical or similar words.These prosody patterns function as a measure of the poet'sperception of prosody. Youngrang's perception of prosody tends torepresent independent series and the recognition of the order they share.One term in the contrastive pair is nature symbolized by the completionof the order; the other is the individual subject embedding deficiency.His poems set a context where the nature is recognized as the symbol of a stable order and the individual subject hopes and expects thepossibility of recovering the order for the deficiency, which is a practicallimitation. To do this, the poet molds an elegant melody to represent theorder the nature embeds, and presents a continuous flow for therecognition of prosody. The individual subject who is heading towardthe order of a favorable circulation gets to believe that his limitationwill get overcome by following the order of nature.His poems adopts a context where the order of the nature, as ametadiscourse, is beatuified by melody and harmony, and the deficientreality will finally get recovered through the contrast and harmony ofseries.This point is the message and the appreciation of the beauty that theprosody pattern of his poems delivers.
