Evaluation of Flexural Performance of RC Columns According to Configuration of Transverse Reinforcement

횡보강근의 배근형상에 따른 철근콘크리트 기둥의 휨 성능 평가

Abstract

This study estimates the flexural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) columns subjected to reversed cyclic lateral loading. The main experimental variables were designed to have the configuration and yield strength of transverse reinforcement. H-type specimens with rectangular ties and S-type specimens with spirals having rectangular and octagonal shapes were cast and tested in this study. Furthermore, the specimens were designed to be subjected to anti-symmetric moment. The experimental results indicated that the specimens with S-type transverse reinforcement showed higher ductility and energy dissipation capacity than the specimens with H-type even though the amount of transverse reinforcing bar of S-type specimens had less than half that of H-type specimens.
