On Study of (meta-)communication in Choi, In-Hoon’s Novels

This paper analyzes the frame of the communication in Choi, In-hoon's novels. The relations of the subject and the other(s), placing emphasis on a subjectivity of the male character and representation. The communication structure with the sucject and the other in Choi, In-hoon's novel has been appreciated significantly. I can find that the narrative method of communication is used effectively to show the main theme and involves the point of 'reflection'. The order of communication, which can be found in a ritual ceremony, is to be found in a riddle. Choi, In-hoon borrowed from the technical of the riddle(-tale) and the detective novel. The communication structure of them has interrelation between the subject and the other(s) in general. The message can move two-sides, but the subject cannot take (meaningful) message back from the Other as much as the subject expects. This kind of dissolved through identifying it with the symbolic order. However, all these results in the appearance of the many female characters. The encounter between the detective story and female characters can be understood as the discourse between the other alienated by the ruling class.
