The first RDF production plant in Korea, which is located in Wonju city, has been operating with normal performance since 2006. In this study the operation data of that plant had been fully collected for a year and analysed to investigate a mass balance of process and an energy consumption rate in RDF production process. It was found that the ratio of combustible, water and non-combustible (including ash) could be analysed very correctly by combining the mass balance data and the measured RDF properties, because total weight of waste carried into RDF plant for a year could be analysed instead of general sample analysis method. The analysis results showed that component ratios of combustible, water and non-combustible (including ash) were 34.3%, 36.7% and 29%, respectively, for MSW of Wonju city. For summer season the water content ratio was 45.2% so that drying treatment was inevitable in order to make a qualified RDF. For winter season the ash content ratio was higher than summer season, because the used briquette was included to MSW. Considering energy consumption for RDF production, 34% of total energy of produced RDF was consumed in the plant. Plant operating cost was 90,000 Won per 1 ton MSW.
