스케일러블 비디오 부호화 표준화 동향

Abstract

근래의 무선망 및 인터넷의 초고속화에 따라 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스가 활성화 되고 있으며, 특히 BcN(Broadband convergence Network) 및 통방융합망의 등장으로 압축 부호화 기술만을 개발하던 시기와 달리 멀티미디어의 생성, 전송 및 소비 환경의 다양한 조건들에서 QoS를 보장하기 위해 비디오 부호화의 스케일러빌러티를 제공하기 위한 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 본 고에서는 스케일러블 비디오 부호화의 개요에 대해 설명하고, 현재 진행 중인 SVC(Scalable Video Coding)의 표준화 동향을 기술한다. 그리고 SVC에 표준으로 채택된 기술 중 시간/공간/화질적 스케일러빌러티를 제공하기 위한 대표적인 알고리즘에 대해 설명한다.
