국내외 4G 이동통신 기술 개발 동향

초록

3세대 이동통신 서비스를 앞둔 시점에 벌써 3세대 이후의 이동통신 시스템에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. ITU-R에서는 3세대 이후 new radio access 시스템을 이동 시 최대 100Mbps 서비스를 제공하고 정지 시 최대 1Gbps서비스를 제공하는 것으로 규정하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 소위 4세대 시스템이라고 하는 3세대 이후 시스템에 대한 국내외 기술 연구개발 동향을 정리하였다. 특히 유럽, 북미, 아시아에서 진행되고 있는 주요 프로젝트들을 정리하여 소개하였다. 유럽은 IST프로젝트와 WWRF, MVCE에 대하여 소개하였고 북미는 IEEE 표준과 개별 기업의 연구 현황을 간략히 소개하였다. 그리고 아시아는 일본의 mITF 및 NTT DoCoMo 연구현황, 중국의 FuTURE 프로젝트, 한국의 WiBro와 Hmm에 대하여 소개하였다.
