PVC fiber was dyed with disperse dye. It could be dyed without carrier at high temperatures, however, the fiber shrunk severely at high temperatures. Carrier was used to reduce the dyeing temperature. Diethylphthalate and benzyl alcohol were tested as carriers. The object of this study is to investigate dyeing behavior of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) fiber with carrier in a disperse dye bath. The effect of dyeing conditions on dye uptake was evaluated by measuring the K/S values. Dyeing temperature, time, pH, and concentrations of dye and carrier were varied to estimate the dyeing behavior.
