Abstract
In this study, the finite element model of the main frame of a jet loom was developed as a part of examination on dynamic characteristics of the jet loom. Since many reciprocating and rotation apparatuses are attached to the jet loom, the jet loom is exposed more to vibration and noise problems than other textile machineries. The main frame of the jet loom is a very important part sustaining the total structure, so first of all, the dynamic characteristics of the main frame should be investigated. In this study. two finite element models of the main frame were constructed and the validity of these models was evaluated by the experimental modal analysis. The dynamic characteristic such as natural frequencies and mode shapes showed a good agreement with experimental results within 10% error range. It is expected that the result of this study can be used as the basic information of jet loom analysis and for the analysis of forced response.
