A Study on the Subject-based Information Gateways on the Internet

인터넷상의 주제별 정보 게이트웨이에 관한 연구

Internet has great potential to support many researchers' work. But it is difficult to locate high quality information on the web efficiently and effectively. This paper describes the current state and characteristics of subject-based information gateways(SBIGs) on the Internet and discusses some of issues involving system maintenance and management for information gateway development.

인터넷 정보 서비스는 대학 도서관 및 연구 기관의 이용자들에게 널리 보급되어 주요 학술 커뮤니케이션 도구로서의 활용도가 점점 높아 가고 있다. 그러나 부적합한 정보량의 과다 문제는 이용자의 효율적인 정보 접근과 이용에 장애 요인이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 인터넷상의 학술 정보 자원을 주제별로 엄선하여 전문가가 직접 질적 수준을 통제하고 있는 주제별 정보 게이트웨이(Subject-based information gateways)의 서비스 내용과 구조를 살펴보았다. 또한 향후 시스템 발전에 요구되는 자원의 유지 및 관리 측면에서의 문제점들을 논의하였다.
