Abstract

The governing equations were derived to determine the spring and viscous coefficients from experimental data by using the Maxwell model and the Voigt model. The high precision measurement system was designed to analyze the stress relaxation and creep phenomena in the thickness direction of fabric. The sample fabrics for men's winter suit were used to analyze the relation between the spring and viscous coefficients and hand values measured by the KESF system. The spring coefficients in the Maxwell model were evaluated to be 19 to 25 kN/㎡ and the viscous coefficients were from7.3 to 8.7 MNs/㎡. Fukurami related with the compressional property showed better relationship to the spring and viscous coefficients. These relationship fitted in well with Kawabata's results. In oder to anticipate the touch of fabric, it can be more useful to obtain the spring and viscous coefficients in the thickness direction using the Maxwell model than the Voigt model.
