Abstract
For a false twisting process, the normal force occurring at the contact point of the belt is the main parameter which influences the variation in the yarn properties. In other words, the properties of the textured yarn are influenced by the tension of the belt. Thus the false twisting section(composed of belts) is the most important part of the false twisting machine. The traditional method employing compressing pumps cannot control the variation of air pressure in real-time mode and the accuracy and/or sensitivity are very low. The purpose of this paper is to develop a control algorithm, a control hardware, and a monitoring program for the new yarn tension control method. i.e., a step motor method. The incorporation of step motors allowed very accurate and sensitive real-time control of the yarn tension. Thus It was possible to control the tension and minimize the possible error. And it was also easier to obtain the perfect grip by minimizing slippage occurring in the belt section caused by the protrusion due to uneven pressure at the contact point possible in the air grip method.
