Acryl amide groups were introduced to the surface of polyethylene films by graft copolymerization of acrylic acid onto low density polyethylene (LDPE) films using corona discharge and subsequent conversion of carboxylic acid groups to amide groups. The surface of the -$CONH_2$ group introduced LDPE film was characterized by measuring water contact angle, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in the attenuated total reflectance mode (FTIR-ATR) and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). Dyeability of -$CONH_2$ group introduced surface were investigated by measuring the K/S value. The FTIR-ATR and ESCA analysis verified that -$CONH_2$ groups were introduced to the LDPE surface. The dyeability of acid dye to the -$CONH_2$ groups introduced surface were improved with the increasing corona power.
