Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of surface treatment on the physical properties of suede-like PET/cotton fabrics. Three different samples were prepared; silicone-treated, polyurethan-coated and polyurethane-coated after silicone treatment. The hairiness of fabric surface contacted with flat plate was inspected by image processing technique and surface properties were also measured by KES-FB system. Heat and moisture related properties such as heat conductivity, Qmax, regain, water transmission rate and apparent contact angle were measured. General mechanical properties were evaluated with a KES-FB system. the results were as follows : Total contact area and fractal dimension of the silicone-treated fabric were the highest. Silicone-treated fabric showed the lowest in bending & shear properties and the highest compression & SMD. Heat conductivity, Qmax and apparent contact angle of silicone-treated fabric were the largest.
