Abstract

Due to the rapid change in society and technology, educators are paying more attention to the use of Information Technology(IT). This paper attempts to analyze the current status of the use of IT in elementary schools, focusing on two issues. First, the present status of the infrastructure for the use of IT is analyzed. Concerning the issue, this paper examines the national plan promoted by the Ministry of Education and school curriculum on computer education. Second, the current situation and hindering factors in the school use of IT are analyzed. Concerning this second issue, the results of a, survey which was conducted in December, 1997 are reported.
