A Taxanomic study on the Family Bdellidae (Bdelloidea : Prostigmata) in Korea

Abstract

This study includes the taxanomy, description and a key to species of mites in the family Bdellidae from Korea. Specimens were collected at 60 localities in Korea from January, 1994 to June, 1997. As a result of this study, the following 7 species were identified : Bdella longicornis ( Linnaeus, 1758), Bdella muscorum Ewing, 1909, Cyta latirostris (Hermann, 1804), Biscirus thori Womersley, 1933, Spinibdella tenurostris (Ewing, 1914). Six species excluding Bdella muscorum of them are newly recorded from Korea.
