Abstract

The miscibility of poly(vinylidene (fluoride) (PVDF) and poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) blends has been studied using FT-lR spectroscopy and DSC. The factor analysis and digital subtraction of the IR spectra of the blends indicate the presence of specific interactions between PVDF and PVAc. The calculated values of interaction energy density, B (-1.369 cal/cm$^3$) and interaction parameter $X_{12}$ (-0.118 at 16$0^{\circ}C$) from the melting point depression equation also suggest that there is a sort of interaction between PVDF and PVAc in the melt state.
