Abstract

We focused on another kind of polymer composite membranes in order to increase membrane flux and enhance membrane strength for practical pervaporation application. The pervaporation membranes were polymer composite membranes based on the active layer of $CMC/$PAA-Li^+(CMPA-Li^+)$ and CMC/$PAA-K^+(CMPA-K^+)$ type. In the case of composite membranes, the separation factor was 1860-12848 with a flux of 0.11-1.56 kg/$m^2$ . h for the 80~95 wt% isopropanol(IPA) aqueous solution at 6$0^{\circ}C$. In addition, to enhance the membrane applicability in the industrial field, the pervaporation performance of the plate and frame modules was investigated by the dehydration membranes and the module dimensions. The effective membrane area of the used plate and frame module was about 2260$\textrm{cm}^2$.
