GIS-T Database for Korea : A Recomendation

GIS-T 의 DB현황과 구축방향

The objective of the paper is to recommend a database format of geographic informa¬tion systems for transportation (GIS-T) based on a review of geographic data files (GDF), a European standard format for navigation and the topologically integrated geographic encoding and referenc¬ing files (TIGER) if the USA The establishment of the standard format for transportation database is important for sharing data since data collection is costly. We believe the recommended format would reduce the implementation costs for GIS-T in Korea in the future.

본 논문에서는 교통부문 지리정보체계를 위한 데이터베이스 포맷을 작성하기 위하여 이용현황을 고찰하고 외국의 GIS-T구축사례를 고찰하여 필요정보의 항목과 구조를 파악한 후 이를 바탕으로 하여 유럽의 교통부문의 GIS데이타베이스 표준인 GDF의 형식을 기본으로 하여서 한국의 실정에 적합한 교통부문 GIS데이터베이스 표준포맷을 제안하였다. 표준적인 GIS데이터베이스의 포맷의 구축에 따르는 기대효과는 첫번째 데이터베이스를 공유함으로써 각 기관과 업계에서 반복적으로 수행하였던 기본 데이터베이스 구축작업에 필요한 비용을 절감할 수 있고 두번째로 한 과업의 결과물이 다른 과업의 데이터로 활용됨으로써 교통부문의 과업들의 질적 향상을 꾀할 수 있으며 세번째로 GIS를 이용한 새로운 응용부분들을 개발함으로써 과거에는 너무나 방대한 자료의 양때문에 불가능했던 분석들을 수행할 수 있다.
