Abstract

PP/nylon 6 blends using maleic anhydride grafted PP, propylene-acrylic acid copolymer and Polytail H as a compatibilizer have been investigated. The weight ratio of PP and nylon 6 is fixed for 20/80. The compatibilizer is incorporated with 0.4, 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6wt% based on the total weight of PP/nylon 6 blends. The morphology, mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties have been characterized. The average size of PP domain with incorporation of compatibilizers was decreased from 10 $\mu$m to a few $\mu$m and the adhesion between the phases was greatly improved, resulting from the effect of the compatibilizer The PP/nylon 6 blends using maleic anhydride grafted PP as a compatibilizer showed good mechanical properties.
