Abstract

The mechanical properties and fracture phenomena of braided polyester cord/rubber composite were studied. The ultimate tensile strength and tensile modulus of braided composite with braiding angle of 30$^{\circ}$ have showed similar values to those of 0$^{\circ}$ ply laminate except bending flexibility which is similar to those of 15$^{\circ}$ ply structure. All the braided cords showed catastrophic fracture behavior without debonding and delamination.
