Abstract

Spray application for preparing self-supporting films was proposed. Polymer films with high dimensional stability were obtained by spraying the aqueous PVA solutions with the help of methanol mixing and substrate heating. Though the strength of sprayed fem was half of solution cast film, it was tough enough to be drawn. The spray-dried PVA film was crystalline(crystallinity 0.38). Spraying accompanies atomizatiotin this case making droplets) of the solution. The droplet size increases with increasing polymer concentration in the feeding solution. The films sprayed from dilute solution was composed of stacked panicles with a size of ~0.2mm. But with increasing polymer concentration the structure changed to continuous one.
