Abstract

The production of spunlace nonwovens is carried out by impinging high pressure waters onto nonwoven webs to consolidate entanglement of fibers. The spunlace nonwovens have good softness and drape, since the structure consists of regular pattern of holes and areas that fibers are bunched close together. In the present work, a theoretical model is offered to predict the tensile property and structural behavior of spunlace nonwovens. By applying the energy method. the derived equation including tensile properties of fiber, curl factor and fiber orientation distribution is suggested. And other important parameter in this approach, slippage factor for spunlace nonwovens is considered separately. These applications are to help engineering design for making the high-added value of spunlace nonwovens and to make optimum conditions for specific endues. such as medical cloths, wiping cloths, and tea bags.
