Abstract
To increase fire proofing characteristics of protective coating based on soluble alkali silicate, silicate coatings were studied on thermal properties, IR spectroscopy, solubility and intumescence. Intumescence and solubility of the samples were dependent on the strength of cationic cross-links between polysilicate particles.
