Abstract

Blends of PVC with PU ionomer and nonionomer were prepared by solvent casting in THF. PU prepared from polytetramethylene adipate(PTAd) glycol showed a single Tg in blends, regardless of the neutralization of the carboxylic group of PU. On the other hand, PUs from polypropylene glycol(PPG) gave two separate Tg's of PVC and PU, regardless of the neutralization. In PTAd PU, ionomer blends gave superior property in terms of modulus and strength to nonionomer blends.
