Abstract

In order to examine the alkaline hydrolysis behaviors of heterocyclic auto disperse dyes, spectral changes of reaction products were discussed The auto dye derived from benzothiazole was stable in alkaline solution. But auto dyes derived from nitrothiazole and dinitrothiophene were very rapidly hydrolyzed by alkali and showed both large hypsochromic and hypochromic shifts in alkaline solution. The dye uptake of polyester fabric dyed in the hydrolyzed solution of azo dye derived from benzothiazole was not altered with hydrolysis time. But in case of auto dyes derived from nitrothiazole and dinitrothiophene, their dye uptakes decreased rapidly with increasing hydrolysis time, and reaction products became colorless, undyeable and water-soluble after hydrolysis.
