Abstract

2-dimensional structural textiles involve various type of defects which can impair the function of textiles corresponding to their end-usage. These defects occur from taults of raw material, improper processing condition and/or material handling error. In the most of manufacturing industries lies all the product or a sampled part of the product under the inspection control before transporting from the factory. For example, an inspection process engaged many experts is installed at the end of weaving process. The fabric defect inspection is nowadays performed visually and the result has uneven quality control, because the inspection criterion is subjective. Thus. a development of objective measurement of defects antral the inspection automation for 2-dimensional textiles. i.e., fabrics, is necessary to the textile industry. This study is treated with development of an objective measurement system for defects in mini-coloured simple structured fabrics and revealed the following results ; defects in fabrics can be detected using photosensors arrayed in a line with incandescent lamps. A multi-channel method for the processing of measured signals leads to a possibility of detection for the fabrics such as spot, streak in warp direction and uneven spacing of wefts.
