Abstract
Large and rapid increases in benzophenanthridine alkaloid production occured in suspension cultures of Eschscholtzia californica cells treated with elicitors. Response to different biotic elicitors showed that elicitors prepared from yeast extract, Collectotrichum lindemuthianum and Verticillium dahliae induced alkaloid formation.
