A Study on the Hand of Fabrics Woven by Air-Jet Spun Yarns

Abstract

The twist angle and the specific tensile strength of rind: spun and air-jet spun yarns(M/S yarns) were examined on the several levels of the yarn counts(Ne) and blending ratios(polyester/cotton : P/C). In order to analyze the hand of P/C plain fabrics woven by rind spun and M/S yarns, 4 primary hands(KOSHI, SHARI, FUKURAMI, HARI etc.) were suggested. The KES-F systems were used to measure the mechanical properties of these fabrics. The stepwise block regression method was applied to investigate the relationships with these mechanical properties. Some statistical parameters were obtained in order to investigate the relationships among the mechanical properties. The primary hands and the total hand values of these fabrics.
