Abstract
This study is conducted to examine the mechanical properties and wearing performance of fabrics for Korean folk clothes(KFC) which have reflected several advantages such as climate, natural features and life style, by means of KES-F system measuring device with 168 kinds of fabrics for KFC at market in which the basic mechanical properties. In this paper, the drapability and crease recovery of fabrics for KFC were measured by Cusic drape tester and Shirley crease recovery tester respectively. The experimental results were analyzed statistically to related basic mechanical properties and wearing performance such as drapability, crease recovery. Finally, we have obtained useful formulas for calculation wearing performance of fabrics for KFC. The summarized results of this study are as follows. The crease recovery (CR) of silk fabrics for KFC showed that the fabrics for summer is 35.0-70.5% , and one for fall and winter is 65.0-92.5% . And also, the CR of polyester fabrics for KFC showed that the fabrics for summer is 50.5-87.5%, and one for fall and winter is 67.5-94.2%. The less G, RC, MMD and SMD, the greater the crease recover of fabrics for KFC. It was shown that the crease recovery is closely associated with shearing, compression and surface properties than bending rigidity. The drape coefficient(DC) of silk fabrics for KFC showed that the fabrics for summer is 67.5~95.0% , and one for fall and winter is 32.5~68.7%. And also, the DC of polyester fabrics for KFC showed that the fabrics for summer is 62.5-94.5%, and one for fall and winter is 22.5~72.5%.
