초록

This study was performed for the development of antimicrobial finished nonwoven fabrics. Polypropylene nonwoven fabrics were treated with organic silicone quate ammonium salt having aikyl carbon number of 16, which was synthesized for this study using batch technique according to various treatment conditions. Antimicrobial activity was evaluated by shake flask method and the reactivity of antimicrobial agent was measured by degree of luminescence from inductively coupled plasma. Water repellency of treated specimen was evaluated by spray test and air permeability was measured by Frazier method. Hand of treated fabrics was evaluated by H. E. S. C. The results obtained from this study were as follows: 1. Antimicrobial activity was significantly affected by the treatment time. Excellent antimicrobial activity was obtained at and over 0.5% o.w.f concentration and optimum treatment time was 30 minutes. And the durable finish to laundering was obtained at 0.7 % o.w.f. concentration. 2. Silicone contents increased with increased treatment concentration. It increased up to 30 minutes of treatment time and then decreased. 3. Water repellency of treated specimen rated 80 by spray test where that of untreated did 4. Moisture regain of treated specimen increased at 0.5 f o.w.f. concentration and then decreased. Air permeability of treated specimen decreased compared to that of untreated. 5. Hand of the treated fabrics became softer, bulkier and more flexible.
