Library and Information Science Education in Japan : Trends and Issues

일본(日本)의 도서관(圖書館)·정보학교육(情報學敎育)

As of 1988, Japan has 277 institutions that give Library and Information Science education, with most of them providing 19 credit Librarian Education Course prescribed by the Library Law. In this paper, the historical background and the current trends of Japan's Library and Information Science education, including those of these institutions will be studied for various angles. In addition, the curriculum of various types being provided by these institutions, as well as the teaching staff in charge of the education will be analyzed here. Finally, some of the present issues that face Japan's Library and Information Science education system will be pointed out, and its future tasks and prospect will be examined.

1988년(年) 현재(現在), 일본(日本)에서 도서관(圖書館) 정보학(情報學)의 교육(敎育)을 실시(實施)하고 있는 기관(機關)은 총(總) 277기관(機關)으로, 그중 대부분(大部分)은 도서관법(圖書館法) 시행규칙(施行規則)에 의한 19단위(單位)의 사서교육과정(司書敎育課程)을 제공(提供)하고 있는 상황(狀況)이다. 본고(本稿)에서는 일본(日本)의 도서관(圖書館) 정보학(情報學) 교육(敎育)의 발전과정(發展過程)과 현황(現況)을 살펴보고 각(各) 종류별(種類別)로 시행(施行)되고 있는 교육기관(敎育機關)의 교육과목(敎育科目)을 분석(分析)하고, 또한 도서관(圖書館) 정보학(情報學)의 교육담당자(敎育擔當者)에 대(對)해서도 분석(分析) 고찰(考察)하였다. 끝으로 현재(現在) 일본(日本)의 도서관(圖書館) 정보학(情報學) 교육(敎育)이 당면(當面)하고 있는 몇가지 문제점(問題點)을 지적(指摘)하고, 앞으로의 과제(課題) 및 장래(將來)를 전망(展望)하여 보았다.
