Abstract
Warp yarn breakage is one of the most important process phenomena affecting the productivity of the weaving process and product quality. In this study, on the basis of the concept that a breakage results from loading greater than yarn strength, dynamic tension of a warp yarn group was selected as a weaving process parameter and a new measuring device for the dynamic tension of the warp yarn group was developed. From the experiments, it was observed that the beating motion has the main effect on the variation of the warp tension in the low level of initial loading. Shedding motion becomes however more important than beating motion in the relatively high level of initial loading.
