Synthesis of Tetra-armed Star Polymer of Poly(${\alpha}$ -Methylstyrenen) Capped by Tert-Chlorine Ends

Abstract

The synthesis of the tetra-armed star shaped poly(α-Methylstyrenen) having tertchlorine ends has been carried out by inifer method using 3, 5, 2', 6'-tetraisoproply (2-chloro)-4-aminoazobenzene/BCl3 initiating system. The polymer was characterized by GPC and 1HNMR spectroscopy and the presence of the initiator fagments was confirmed by Kenndey-Smith-Nagy plot. The number end fuuctionality determined by chlorine content analysis, was found to be 4.02 ±0.5.
