Abstract

Aminopropyl cellulose was prepared by a reaction of cellulose with acrolein and subsequent oximation of aldehyde and reduction of oxime group. The addition reaction of acrolein on cellulose was more preferable at low temperature, and in organic solvent than in aqueous medium. The reduction of oxim in LiAlH4 ether solution showed relatively higher yield than in aqueous NaBH4 solution.
