Abstract

Monomer, 3-($\rho$-aminophenoxy)-4-aminobenzanilide(APAB), having an easy rotatable ether-linkage and the kink was synthesized so as to increase the solubility of aromatic polyamide. This monomer was polymerized and copolymerized with $\rho$-phenylene diamine(PPD) in various ratio by low temperature solution polymerization method. Polyamides prepared from APAB were soluble in organic solvents and decomposed at above 40$0^{\circ}C$. In the copolyamides, as the content of PPD was increased, the heat resistance was increased. According to X-ray diffraction curves, it was found that all the polyamides were in crystalline form.
