Abstract

The effects of AA/MA grafting onto PET and chelation of the grafted copolymer with La(III) on the thermal properties of PET have been studied by the use of DSC, TGA, and Rheovibron. The AA/MA grafting and the La(III) chelation do not affect the melting temperature of PET. But they disturb the melt crystallization of PET, lower the melt crystallization temperature, and restrict the molecular motion, La(III) chelation increases the thermal stability of PET-g-AA/MA.
