Abstract

The effect of treating conditions on the chelation of PET-g-AA/MA with La(III) was investigated. The amount of La(III) bound to the PET-g-AA/MA was greatly increased by the method of converting carboxylic groups in PET-g-AA/MA to sodium salt form. The amount of La(III) bound to the acid from of PET-g-AA/MA was increased with the increase of treating temperature and time. But that bound to the sodium salt form was slightly decreased with the increase of treating temperature and was independent on the concentration of La(III) solution.
