Abstract
Hangeul, the Korean letter, inherently, has many special characteristics than other letters. In this paper we searched these characteristics and constructed 3 state transition graph for Hangeul and then proposed Hangeul economical code which consists of compact coded for each of 3 states in transition graph. With this result, the average length of codes to express a Hangeul character needs about 3.48 bits and this is a very useful economical code which is less than 4.029 bits of entropy. If the information represented by Hangeul will be encoded with this economical code then it may be able to transfer more than 130% of informations compair with regular codes through the same information channel and the density of records in the memory unit may be improved.
