Effect of Drafting Conditions on the Physical Properties of Roving -Drafting Force and Tensile Strength-

Investigation has been carried out on the physical properties of several cotton rovings in various drafting conditions, such as twist, draft ratio and roller gauge. The drafting force and tensile strength were measured and analyzed by the statistical methods -33 factorial design and multiple linear regression analysis. It was found that the twist in drafting conditions influenced the drafting force and tensile strelgth in a linear manner for all the specimens, but the draft ratio and roller gauge influenced in a linear and quadratic manner. In the multiple linear regression analysis, the twist gave a positive effect on the drafting force and tensile strength, but others had a negative effect on all the specimens.
