Abstract

High-tenacity nylon 6 filaments were shrunken by aqueous solution of 60% formic acid and redrawn with various extents(recovery ratio for shrunken portion : 20, 40, 60, 80, 100%) at various temperatures(50,70,90,160$^{\circ}C$), and some of the redrawn filaments were heat-treated. And then the structural changes of samples were mainly investigated. The crystalline structures were changed little except at the higher redraw ratios and the crystallite size on (002) plane and crystallinity were decreased only a little. But the total, crystalline, and amorphous orientaions were increased generally with the redraw ratio. The samples heat-treated after redrawing were shrunken little but those not heat-treated were shrunken greatly. The dependence of most structural changes upon the redraw temperatures was indicated little at the lower ones(50,70, and 90$^{\circ}C$)
