Multilingual automatic generation of computer system message

컴퓨터메세지의 다국어자동생성

Computer system messages play a critical role for users in understanding the system. Messages that are inaccurate or difficult to understand make it more difficult for users to correct errors and increase the chances of further errors. It is an important part of the human interface. In this paper, the generation of Korean and Japanese computer system messages at various levels of politeness is presented as an example of improvement for the man-machine interface.

컴퓨터시스템메세지는 이용자가 그 시스템을 이해하는데 중요한 역할을 한다. 이해하기 어렵거나 부정확한 메세지는 더 많은 에러를 유발시키기도 한다. 좋지않은 메세지의 보다 큰 문제점은 이용자가 메세지의 이해부족으로 인해 컴퓨터이용에 대한 의욕이 일단 무너지면 다시 일으켜 세우는 것이 매우 어렵다는데 있다. 본고에서는 컴퓨터시스템과 이용자간의 인터페이스향상의 일례로서 영문컴퓨터메세지의 한국어 및 일본어의 자동생성에 관하여 실례와 함께 논한다.
