Studies on the Denier Variation of Filament Yarns

This study was carried out to obtain the information on the denier variation of several domestic nylon and polyester filament yarns applying statistical analysis. The variation between pirns was the major factor affecting the denier variation. The predicted variance could be used in place of actual one since the deviations between then were proved to be negligible. The total variation for the yarn with smaller number of filaments, for a fixed total denier, was larger than for the yarn with larger one. The total variation obtained by 270m test length unit was larger than that obtained by 90m test length unit.
