Abstract

A wax type emulsifier, PEG-400 tall oil ester(PGTE), polyoxyethylene cetyl ether(POCE) and polyoxyethylene octadecylamine(POOA) were synthesized. Stearylmetacrylate-2-diethylaminoethylmetacrylate copolymer (SDMA) as a mother resin of acryl type water repellent were synthesized and cationized(SDMAC). To give promoted softening effect and water repellency, 1-behenoylaminoethyl-2-docosyl imidazoline(BADI) and its cationized compound(BADIC) were prepared. Some durable softening water repellents were compounded from blending waxes with these compounds as above and these durable softening water repellents were treated to various textiles independently and conjunctly. The structures of the compounds were determined from the element analysis, IR spectrum and the molecular weight measurement.
