Thermal Shrinkage Behavior of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Filaments
Abstract
Thermal shinkage behavior of poly(ethylene terphthalate) filaments was investigated theoretically using the three-element model in which spring constants do not change with temperature and the dashpot viscosity is assumed to be an exponential function of temperature. In the isothemal shrinkage, the time needed for maximum shrinkage of the PET filament became shorter as temperature was raised. This suggested the dependency of filament viscosity on temperature. At a constant rate of heating, thermal shrinkage was increasingly dependent on temperature as the temperature was raised from 50
